Make the necessary preparations for haulout if necessary. Know that the cost is normally paid by the perspective buyer. The inspection of the exterior does not typically take a long time therefore inspections are commonly done in the slings. The bottom must be clean which is done by pressure washing it.

 Check all safety equipment to include fire extinguishers, visual distress signals, life jackets etc.

 Provide easy access to all areas of the vessel.

 Make sure that shore power is available to test both AC and DC systems.

 Have fresh water tanks filled to prove both hot and cold water systems.

 Have all electronics aboard and installed.

 Have the heads clean and operational.

 Have the ships papers aboard.
